Christmas is coming.
whoah...it's close to a month that i haven't blogged. somehow, i'm enjoying just journalling things down manually there and then. however, still, i would say blogging is a useful tool if i intend to get something across to whoever that reads this blog.
well, it's less than a month to school reopening and i've yet to really start on my homework proper. now this is very very bad. im trying. but urgh, this week's been carols and carols and yet more carols. i spend my whole morning out and reach home earliest 3pm. then i'm busy with my xmas presents, youth camp stuff, xmas musical worship...blah.
oh well, im glad christmas is coming though. and through carolling(frankly speaking, it's my first proper time carolling! :D), i've learnt lots too. after a somewhat bad start during warmups on monday, our 1st day of the carolling season, we are all quite jerked awake from our small self to transform into musicians who use our music to bless sincerely.
im proud to say im able to move aside from my stone-face and wooden block image while performing as i sing the carols. i hope i stay that way for syf pieces and other pieces too! haha.. well, anyway, just today, the teachers brought up an interesting occurence. they noticed that as compared to the times when past batches carolled, this year, many people actually sat through almost the entire performance! some were waiting there before we were slated to sing and sits throughout; another group will happen to pass by and decide to stop and hear us; some came by intentionally and though they may leave before we end, we see them leave with joy and glee.
really, i'm amazed at this. it makes me really think alot more of singing to bless and not singing to perform and showcase our choral excellence(if there is any haha). the economic crisis that singapore and US and many other places are facing, with the addition of the recent outbursts of the mumbai attacks and thai protestors, are all threatening events to everyone. especially for the people working in the CBD area, they are probably living with apprehension and fear for their jobs, if not year-end bonuses or even just their monthly salaries.
this season of christmas is going to be very meaningful. i always believe that there is a reason behind everything that God allows for and this series of setbacks are no exception. the fact it also happened kind of before the christmas season this year should make us, as christians, to let others know that there IS a savior whom we can all depend on. He loves us all and will surely lead us out of this 'shadow of the valley of death'.
