Good Friday
Friday, April 10, 2009 10:23 AM

Good Friday is the day Christians all over the world celebrate the cruxifixion of dear Jesus Christ, Son of God. The act of dying on the cross to pay the price for our sins is immensely incomprehendable. It demonstrates the great, merciful love of God over everyone of us, believers and non-believers alike.

This year, my church is embarking on a whole new journey together, a journey to open doors. This is totally different from what we have been doing for the Easter Season year after year. Instead of preparing an Easter musical this year, we're moving towards personal evangelism where we are challenged to open our houses to invite friends for some dinner and movie. For RAYs, we're doing it on cell level.

Personally, I feel that im slowly stepping out of my comfort zone in the area of evangelism this season. Yifan's been coming to my church twice already and it's a good start to see she's willing to attend church and stuff. I'm just not very sure how much of her has really accepted God and so this is something I have to breakthrough during our conversations.

Besides this, I had an amazing conversation on Saturday night with my classmate online. He sent some of us(classmates) an email requesting us to watch this video. I opened and realised it's something i've seen before, about the Father bringing his paralysed son to compete in triathlons like the Iron Man etc. Since he was online, I just had the urge to discuss the video with that friend suddenly, sensing that if I didn't do it, I may just regret it.

So, I just started the conv casually by mentioning how I've watched the video and prior to then as well. Then I added that the video simply demonstrates 'how God loves us as well'. I'm glad I stepped out of my hesitancy to type that out. It's not something I've really done before and so I was really unsure of what the response would come out of it. Anyway, thank God for technology like MSN. haha..

Well, indeed PRAISE GOD as my friend started to ask lots of questions regarding this love of God that I mentioned, like whether non-believers experience God's love and how do they even know it's God's love when they don't know God etc. I started off first and foremost by sharing the gospel with him and explained whatever I could explain to the best of my abilities, some of which also stumped me to an extent too. haha.

He proceeded to let me know that he's actually been curious about God before and once asked God to show him that God's real. To his amazement, God did speak to Him in a way he found so strange and yet he didnt dare to be convinced. So he asked again for God to send someone to invite him to church/cell. I felt so shocked. During the conversation, before we reached this point of the discussion, I was thinking how to bring up the topic of invitation to the Easter Service this Sunday. I told him about it and he was like amazed. I further learned that he startedn pondering about God since sec4 and he asked those questions sometime in the beginning of this year, 1/2 weeks after attending Daryl's christmas service. There and then, I realised that at the start of this year, during Vision Nite when JJ asked us about the numbers/faces, I got the number 3. As I was waiting to see which 3 friends, I did think of this friend but I wasn't confirmed and didnt take that into great account, thinking I was probably thinking of my classmates as a whole. Why this classmate when we are not really close friends?

As I thought, I figured it really was God telling me about this friend already that time! I mean, it's quite close to the time where that friend asked those questions as well. I was really excited and that friend has accepted to invitation to come for the Easter Service this Sunday too! Actually, another good news is that on Monday's Chapel(it's REW :D), I heard that the friend ticked the response 'prayed to receive Christ' and I'm super thankful! Somehow, I felt the sense of gratitude that God has used me in one way or another to save this friend. Hopefully, this sunday, his faith will be further strengthened. =D

On another note, school has been stressful. My H2s are not doing very well. but on a happier note, I GOT MY PW A!!!!! In fact, my entire class managed to get our very first A'level A together!! It was a day to celebrate! heh.. after all that slogging for PW and tolerating the differences in the group, it was worthwhile. haha..
